Equal Opportunities Commission

This organisation is one of the sexist on the face of the earth. They routinely support women's issues while ignoring the most serious issues for men such as family law and the state pensions racket.

Let's look at just some of their activities.

In 2005 - early 2006, to celebrate 30 years of their existence, the EOC had a poll on their website homepage - http://www.eoc.org.uk/ - which is a travesty of equal opportunities.

If you accept that it is men who are discriminated against, and that the situation for men has worsened since 1975, it is not possible to complete this poll truthfully.

Most people would believe that the EOC exists to help women, not men. But the poll has no option to indicate that men are more discriminated against than women, and no option to indicate that the situation for men is worse. This is hence not an 'equal opportunity' poll.

The poll may only be completed to indicate that things, assumingly for women, have got better, or at least are no worse than in 1975.

Comment : after 30 years of work, has the EOC learned nothing about providing equal opportunities ?

When we questioned them :

Dear Sir/Madam,

Your online poll (copy of options below) is difficult to complete.

I believe that discrimination against men has rapidly increased since 1975, but the options available do not allow me to complete the poll to that effect.

Could you please add another option "much more", and add another question "do you think it is men or women who are most discriminated against ?". Then I will be able to complete the poll in a truthful manner.

Thanks.

- this was their response :

Dear ,

Thank you for your two emails. The poll you are querying is now coming to a close, however we will bear in mind your comments when creating future polls.

Thank you nevertheless for taking the time to email us, because such feedback is always useful.

Kind regards,

EOC Website Team

How 'equal' are the 'opportunities' the EOC offers ?

The EOC, by 2005 or thereabouts, seems to have dropped the word "opportunities" from most of its literature, and now concentrates on "equality".

In early 2006, the EOC was involved in a public consultation exercise, about the proposed Gender Equality Duty programme. In emails sent out by Oxygenmarketing, on behalf of the EOC, a new concept was introduced. The Gender Equality Duty, is a proposal that all public bodies have a duty to abide by 'equality' measures.

In explaining what the Gender Equality Duty is about, we get the following concept :

By taking into account the different needs of men and women in public service provision and employment, the public sector will be able to develop more appropriate  policies, more responsive services, and more just employment practices. ... The business benefits of the Gender Equality Duty are also, however, wide-ranging : understanding the different needs of women and men in policy and in service provision ensures better policy, more effectively targeted services and better use of public money.

Comment : we see here a move from 'opportunities' to blatant 'equality' demands, and then to the opposite of equal opportunities, to different provisions for women and men. Presumably better and more provisions for women. How corrupt can an organisation become ?

Comment : when will these people be asked to do their jobs properly ?
