The background to our concerns for men's rights includes :
The recent history of men's rights has been developed by successive governments and their agencies, such as the Equal Opportunities Commission and the Child Support Agency, who, because of pressures applied, have actively supported radical feminist objectives. But the legal and judicial system is seriously compromised in terms of the interpretation of laws and lack of any effective controls. MPs and Parliament are not responding to the situation. Those men who have contacted their MPs are usually entirely ignored. This is because MPs and the Government are mainly unprincipled people, who are only concerned with getting re-elected, and fear losing women's votes. MPs do as the party Whips instruct them, so represent their parties rather than their constituents. The press and media have so far taken no significant interest, despite reporting opportunities for campaigning journalists that would fill the tabloids many times over.
We recognise that the country is controlled by an unelected minority, and that we the people must again assert our authority and restore democratic control over our Government; this part of our philosophy is closely aligned with that of a USA group We The People.
Feminists continue to press for further rights using what we refer to as the Big Lie i.e. that women are disadvantaged in many areas of life and require special provisions.
The situation now is that men are seriously, and deliberately, disadvantaged in many areas of life, and we are concerned about men's rights issues as a result.
We need to address these issues, and further, to restore a balance between men's and women's rights and responsibilities to restore our society. While various father's and men's groups have demanded change since the mid-1970s, no remedy has yet appeared; existing groups lack the leadership and rationale to effect change.
The committed individuals in UKMM are doing all they can, however it appears that most men are in denial of these realities, and we men need to organise ourselves to restore men's rights. Most of the problems can only be remedied through our political system - by our MPs and Parliament, as Government has no interest.
